You may not observe this, but TV, cables, magazines are some of the channels of lust. May I say here that the problem of lust is the seeing aspect, but not the looking? So conquering lust as a believer begins with the carefulness of what you watch.
Each day you go to school, work, market, or church you will always meet several people on your way. But if I ask you how many people, you saw today on your way? So watching pornographic items in any form or guise will surely lead you to this sin of sexual depravity. Such a medium includes TV, cables magazine, and billboard. Also, when Peter told the disciples he going fishing, the rest disciples fell for it. Words have a way of influencing our thought and decision. So keep away from sexually induced musicals and discussions.
3. Watch your company. 2 Samuel 13:1-29. Bird of a feather flock together, they say. Remember, you cannot sleep on the lap of Delilah and hope to wake up on the bosom of Abraham. Immediately I gave my life to Christ, I changed most of my friends. I was also cautious about my female friends. I equally resigned from the social clubs I belonged to as the general secretary. Those steps helped me a great deal.
Amon had a glorious destiny, but a bad company truncated that future. The effect of that one counsel from Jonadab to Amon also affected Tamar’s marital life and destiny. It also kills Amon, made both Absalom and his mercenary murderers. Keeping your distance from people who talk, encourage, practice, or induce you with sexual perversion is a sure way to getting away from the trap of lust.
